How to Archive a Channel

Channel gone quiet? Archive it — clutter goes, history stays, unarchive anytime.

Archive the Channel

To archive a channel:

  1. Click More options (…) in the channel header.

  2. Select Archive.

Confirm Archiving

When a confirmation window opens:

  1. You’ll see a few warnings about what archiving does.

  2. In the Confirm field, type ARCHIVE — ALL CAPS, no spaces.

  3. Click Archive to finish, or Cancel to keep the channel active.

Where to Find Archived Channels

Open the Archived view from the sidebar to browse channels you’ve put on pause.

  • Use the Search bar to find a channel by name, job, or stage shown in the title.
  • Toggle Unread to focus on archived channels with updates you haven’t opened yet.
  • Archived channels won’t appear in your regular Channels list until you unarchive them.

After You Archive

  • You can view messages, files, and notes, but can’t send new messages.
  • No notifications are sent while the channel is archived.
  • To bring it back, click Unarchive (banner) or open More options (…) → Unarchive in the header.

Note: Archiving a channel affects everyone in it — the channel moves to Archived for all members and becomes read-only.

That is it — keep things tidy, stay focused, and you’re good to go.
